Picture this: You're running in a race, but the finish line keeps moving.

It’s always close enough for you to see, but as soon as you are about to cross it, it moves.

Sounds exhausting, right?

Last week, we talked about society's version of 'success': more money, bigger titles, and a resume that reads like a list of achievements.

It's all outcome-oriented.

You’ve felt it, haven’t you?

The pressure to get it all figured out by the time you’re 30.

To chase the next promotion, the higher salary.

To always keep going, so you don’t fall behind.

To appear successful, even if you don't feel it on the inside.

There's a real cost to this.

This endless race can trap you, leaving you perpetually chasing, never feeling enough, and stuck in a cycle that values speed over intention.

It's a pursuit where fulfillment always seems juuuust around the corner (forever just a little out of reach).

The truth is, the 'finish line' never really arrives – it's an illusion.

In my work as a psychologist, I've seen the toll this endless race takes on our mental well-being. The pressure to meet external standards can lead to burnout, a loss of self-identity, and a disconnection from what truly matters to us.

But the tides are turning…

The digital landscape is reshaping what it means to work, create, and succeed. 

While some people dismiss the creator economy as ‘just a bunch of influencers’, its potential is reflected in these staggering numbers:

• Over 5.3 billion people are online today (that’s 65% of the total world population). 
• Over 90% of internet users now use social media every month.
• Goldman Sachs estimates that the creator economy is currently worth $250 billion and will nearly double to $480 billion by 2027. (To put that into perspective, some of the really big industries in the U.S. are worth around $700 billion each.)

This new era is bringing forward ways of working that didn’t exist a decade ago.

It opens up a world where you can connect with people on any continent, your office can be anywhere you choose, and your work is dictated by your creativity instead of the clock.

There are countless ways to tap into this digital universe while doing something you find fulfilling (and no, you don’t need millions of followers):

• Offering unique services to a global audience.
• Crafting educational courses that inspire.
• Developing digital products that solve real problems.
• Securing sponsorships that align with your values.
• The list goes on…

As a business coach, I'm thrilled by the endless opportunities. 

But more importantly – and this is where the psychologist in me does a little happy dance –, the creator economy offers a unique opportunity to align your work with your personal values. 

It not only redefines the concept of work, but also what it means to live a balanced, purposeful life.

This is a space where your value isn't dictated by a traditional job title.

Instead, it's tied to the unique experiences, skills, and perspectives you bring to the table.

I’m not saying quit your job today and throw everything overboard just so you can go viral on TikTok.

But what I am saying is this: we live in a transformative era (of social media, automation, new business models…) and you have more opportunities than ever to redefine success by expressing your unique values, interests, and strengths.

The old race, with its ever-moving finish line, doesn't have to be your race.
